The Digital Doctor: How Egypt’s Nilescan Labs Centralised 13 Radiology Centres with Odoo

Nilescan Labs, one of Egypt’s largest diagnostic imaging networks, moved from paper files and spreadsheets to a single Odoo platform. The result: centralised data across more than 30 sites, real-time visibility for management and a foundation for future digital services.

Nilescan Labs has grown over decades into a well-known radiology and diagnostics brand in Egypt, operating a mix of imaging centres and laboratories. Like many healthcare providers that expanded gradually, it relied on paper forms, local spreadsheets and standalone accounting tools. Each branch had its own way of scheduling patients and tracking revenue, and senior management received aggregated numbers with a delay of weeks.

This fragmented setup caused daily friction. Staff spent time chasing paper reports, reconciling cash and card payments and calling other branches to confirm whether a patient’s previous records existed. Management could not easily answer questions like “Which modality is under-used?” or “Which locations are growing fastest?”.

When the organisation decided to modernise, it chose Odoo as the central business system and worked with an implementation partner to roll it out gradually. The first objective was to bring all commercial and financial data into one place. Odoo CRM and Sales capture referrals and corporate contracts, while Invoicing and Accounting record every transaction coming from the branches.

Next came operational visibility. Each branch uses Odoo to log orders, track the status of procedures and register results. Dashboards show daily income, exam counts per modality and outstanding balances per client. Managers can now log in from anywhere and see performance across all sites without waiting for end-of-month reports.

Staff adoption was a crucial success factor. Odoo’s clean interface meant that even employees who were not tech-savvy could learn to use dashboards and filters. Instead of calling the head office, branch managers drill into their own data and take action immediately—whether that means adjusting staffing, following up on delayed payments or planning new marketing initiatives.

The new platform has also opened doors for future projects: integrating timesheets, digital signatures for reports and tighter connections with referring clinics and hospitals. By centralising data and workflows on Odoo, Nilescan turned a complex, paper-heavy network into a more transparent, manageable and scalable diagnostics business.
