Sparkle is a digital financial platform founded in Lagos, Nigeria, with a mission to provide modern banking and lifestyle services to individuals, retailers and small businesses. Customers can open accounts, analyse spending, receive payments, manage simple inventory and issue invoices—all from within the Sparkle ecosystem.
Behind the scenes, however, the organisation faced the same challenges as many fast-growing financial institutions. Different teams used separate systems for customer onboarding, loan tracking, accounting and internal reporting. Some steps were completely manual, relying on email and spreadsheets. As transaction volumes grew, these silos slowed down decision-making and made it harder to maintain a consistent view of risk and performance.
To fix this, Sparkle partnered with a regional Odoo specialist to implement a unified ERP. The project started with a detailed requirements workshop to map lending workflows, regulatory reporting needs and customer service processes. Odoo was then configured, with minimal custom code, to handle customer records, product definitions, loan contracts, payment schedules and accounting entries.
Data migration was handled carefully: existing customer and loan data was cleaned, deduplicated and imported into Odoo so that teams would not have to keep referencing old systems. Staff received structured training so that front-office and back-office users understood how their parts of the process now connected in a single platform.
The payoff has been clear. Loan applications move more smoothly from origination to approval to disbursement because each stage is tracked inside Odoo. Core banking and accounting data align automatically, radically reducing manual reconciliation. The management team has real-time dashboards showing portfolio performance, overdue accounts and operational KPIs, which supports faster, data-driven decisions.
